重组人 MMP-3（Matrix Metalloproteinase-3）可降解 II、III、IV、IX 和 X 型胶原蛋白、蛋白多糖、纤连蛋白、层粘连蛋白和弹性蛋白。此外，MMP-3 还可以激活其他 MMP，如 MMP-1、MMP-7 和 MMP-9，使 MMP-3 在结缔组织重塑中至关重要。MMP-3被认为参与伤口修复、动脉粥样硬化的进展和肿瘤的发生。
