HSPA1A 是 Hsp70 蛋白家族的成员。Hsp70s 是广泛表达的热休克蛋白家族。Hsp70 家族稳定先前存在的蛋白质以防止聚集，并介导细胞质和细胞器内新翻译的多肽的折叠。HSP 是存在于所有细胞中的丰富且保守的蛋白质。在温度冲击或其他应激刺激下，HSP 在细胞内合成，可保护细胞免于蛋白质变性或死亡。在细胞外，HSP 可以发挥细胞因子功能，通过激活 APC 启动先天免疫和适应性免疫。HSP 还具有伴侣功能并有助于将抗原肽呈递给 T 细胞。Hsp70 家族的分子伴侣在细胞中具有多种功能。它们协助折叠新合成的和应激变性的蛋白质，以及将蛋白质导入细胞器，和聚集蛋白的解离。
重组小鼠 HSP70 由 651 个氨基酸组成，预测分子量为 71.5 kDa。它在还原条件下在 SDS-PAGE 中以约 64.3 kDa 的条带迁移。
编码小鼠 HSP70 (NP_034609.2) (Ala2-Asp641) 的 DNA 序列在 N 末端用多组氨酸标签表达。
