生物活性：用人CCL8受体人CCR5转染CHO细胞，用FLIPR法检测ED50 < 0.5µg/ml，对应的比活性为> 2.0 × 103单位/mg。MCP-2与MCP-1有60%的同源性，两种蛋白都可以进行可逆的二聚。MCP-2的主要受体为g蛋白偶联受体CCR1和CCR5。MCP-2是HIV-1感染的人类神经胶质细胞的潜在靶点，因为它可能在调节病毒在大脑中的传播方面发挥作用。最近，研究人员发现小鼠MCP-2作为一种新型的CCR8激动剂在皮肤中表达，并在嗜酸性炎症中发挥作用。
