Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF) is a lymphoid factor that promotes long-term maintenance of embryonic stem cells by suppressing spontaneous differentiation. LIF has a number of other activities including cholinergic neuron differentiation, control of stem cell pluripotency, bone and fat metabolism, mitogenesis of certain factor dependent cell lines and promotion of megakaryocyte production in vivo.

白血病抑制因子(LIF)是一种通过抑制自发分化促进胚胎干细胞长期维持的淋巴样因子。LIF还具有胆碱能神经元分化、控制干细胞多能性、骨和脂肪代谢、某些因子依赖细胞系的有丝分裂和促进体内巨核细胞产生等多种活性。人类和小鼠成熟LIF在氨基酸水平上有78%的序列同源性。人类LIF在人类和小鼠细胞中同样活跃。小鼠LIF对人类细胞的活性大约是人类LIF的1000倍。
使用 TF-1 人红白血症细胞进行细胞增殖测定，这种效果的ED50为25-150 pg/ml。
