重组人FGF-8b蛋白是一种肝素结合生长因子，属于FGF家族，通过促进细胞的增殖和分化，在产前发育、产后生长和各种组织的再生过程中发挥着核心作用。人和鼠的FGF-8A和B是完全相同的，而人和小鼠的FGF-8E和F是98%相同的。FGF-8主要针对乳腺癌细胞和其他表达FGF受体的细胞。
重组人FGF-8b蛋白包含431个氨基酸，预测分子量为49.3kd。
通过胸腺嘧啶在BaF3细胞中表达FGF受体的剂量依赖性刺激作用来确定，其ED50值应该≤1 ng/ml，结合其特异性活性为≥1×106 IU/mg。
