生物活性：CPE的活性形式是切割肽的c端氨基酸残基，因此参与肽激素和胰岛素、脑啡肽等神经递质的生物合成。膜相关的CPE作为一种分选受体，靶向调节的分泌蛋白，主要是垂体的跨高尔基网络和分泌颗粒中的激素前和神经肽进入分泌通路。该蛋白的缺陷与II型糖尿病有关，可导致葡萄糖清除受损和胰岛素抵抗。
