Regenerating islet-derived protein 4, also known as REG-like protein, REG4, GISP and RELP is a secreted contains one C-type lectin domain, high expressed in the gastrointestinal tract, including jejunum, ileum, appendix, pancreas and small intestine. In the acid environment, REG4 can maintain carbohydrate recognition activity. REG4 may be involved in inflammatory and metaplastic response of the gastrointestinal epithelium.

Regenerating islet-derived protein 4, also known as REG-like protein, REG4, GISP and RELP is a secreted contains one C-type lectin domain, high expressed in the gastrointestinal tract, including jejunum, ileum, appendix, pancreas and small intestine. In the acid environment, REG4 can maintain carbohydrate recognition activity. REG4 may play an important role in the development and progression of colorectal cancer, as well as in intestinal morphogenesis and epithelium restitution.
The recombinant mouse REG4 comprises 146 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 17.5 kDa. A DNA sequence encoding mouse REG4 (Met 1-Thr 157) was expressed with the polyhistide tag at the C-terminus.
