重组小鼠DKK-1 是属于DKK蛋白家族的趋化因子，促进LRP6内化和降解，与细胞表面受体Kremen形成三元复合体。DKK-1最初被确定为一种Xenopus头部形成分子，表现为Wnt信号传导的拮抗剂。它是雄性激素促进的秃头过程中最上调的基因之一，DKK-1信使RNA在体外对真皮乳头的毛囊进行DHT处理几小时后上调。DKK-1不仅在发育过程中发挥头部形成的功能，而且还调节关节重塑和骨形成，表明它在类风湿性关节炎和多发性骨髓瘤的发病机制中具有潜在作用。
