Wnt-3a是无翼型MMTV整合位点(Wnt)家族19个脊椎动物成员之一。Wnt家族是高度保守的富含半胱氨酸的分泌性糖蛋白，对正常的发育过程非常重要。正常胚胎中胚层发育和尾体形成所必需的。发育中的神经管需要正常的形态发生(通过相似性)。介导肠隐窝底部干细胞的自我更新(体外)。
