AMH/MIS 是 TGF-β 超家族的一员，由腔前卵泡和小窦卵泡的颗粒细胞 (GC) 产生，在调节原始卵泡的募集和卵泡的 FSH 依赖性发育中发挥作用。BMP15上调AMH的转录，抑制p38 MAPK降低BMP15诱导的AMH和SOX9的表达，提示BMP15通过p38 MAPK信号通路上调AMH的表达，该过程涉及SOX9的转录因素。
血清中的 AMH 水平可作为女性卵巢储备相对大小的生物标志物，并且在预测体外受精 (IVF) 的成功方面具有临床重要性。AMH 也可用作多囊卵巢综合征 (PCOS) 的替代诊断标志物。
重组人 AMH 由 555 个氨基酸组成，预计分子量为 59.1 kDa。
编码人 AMH (NP_000470.2) (Leu25-Arg560) 的 DNA 序列在 N 末端带有多组氨酸标签。
