中期因子Midkine，也称为 MK、NEGF2，属于神经营养和发育调节的肝素结合分子家族，是一种分泌型肝素结合生长因子，为低分子量的蛋白质。

Midkine 蛋白包括五个链内二硫键，它们包含两个结构域，每个结构域中有三个反向平行的β-折叠。硫酸软骨素蛋白多糖、蛋白酪氨酸磷酸酶 zeta (PTPzeta) 是 MK 的受体。MK 促进各种细胞的生长、存活和迁移，并在器官发生过程中的神经发生和上皮间充质相互作用中发挥作用。根据小鼠中 118 个氨基酸残基和人中 121 个氨基酸残基的成熟肽长度，预测的分子量约为 13.3kDa。
使用人中性粒细胞通过趋化性生物测定法测得的生物活性在 10-100 ng/ml 的浓度范围内。
